I’m Kelly Griffiths, I’m a UK qualified, English speaking Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist based in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, France.
I’ve lived in Chamonix for over 3 years now. As is often the case with people relocating to this beautiful part of the world, I love to climb, ski, hike and generally get outdoors. I’m also a keen yogi and mindfulness practitioner. I love being inspired by the beautiful and wonderful nature that surrounds Chamonix. Waking up to views of Mont-Blanc each day is pretty spectacular and invigorating! However, waking up in the foothills of Europe’s tallest mountain, does also serve me as a good reminder of how life has its ups and downs. Sometimes it really does feel like there is a mountain to climb to get to where you want to be. This is one of the many reasons I decided to follow this path and qualify as a cognitive behavioural hypnotherapist.
I started off on the career ladder in a very different guise, as a corporate lawyer. However, after suffering my own “life-changing event”, I decided it was time to change careers and do something a little more people-focussed. So, I decided to go back to University and from there completed my CBH Diploma in the UK in 2014 and 2015.
From my own personal experience, I’ve been able to develop my understanding of how the various choices we make in life as well as how unforeseen factors (or perhaps unexpected life events) can impact how a person thinks and feels and the choices he or she makes. If life choices and unforeseen events cause stress or anxiety, it can set the scene for negative or unhelpful patterns of behaviour to develop. My own personal experience has taught me that family life can (and often does) impact on work life and vice versa. Having had to overcome a major accident in my late 20s, I also have a good understanding of the various physical, emotional and mental strains involved when having to face and overcome an adverse or traumatic event. My own personal life experience, combined with my professional training and qualifications equip me with the skills and knowledge to help my clients evaluate the problems they are facing and effectively work with them to enable them to take the positive steps they desire to get them on the right path to where they want to be.
I am open, honest, easy to talk to and approachable. I personally have suffered with panic attacks, stress and anxiety and, at various points in my life have tried various types of therapy. I tried both Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Hypnotherapy (although separately) sometime ago. I found both amazingly effective and profoundly life-changing. In very different ways, both therapies opened my mind and the way I thought and approached the various aspects of my life that were causing me concern. These therapies taught me to think about things differently, to manage my emotions more effectively and to make positive changes to some negative patterns of thinking and behaving. So when I found a course that would enable me to combine the two therapies it made perfect sense! I studied Hypno-CBT (the combined use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Hypnotherapy) at the UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy in London. Through this, I have learnt to adopt modern psychological practices and an evidence-based, mindful approach when delivering my therapy. By doing this I aim to help my clients by providing a tailored approach to tackle their problems, It enables me to develop and deliver and implement effective treatment plans for my clients. Cognitive therapies, CBT and hypnotherapy have consistently been shown to be the most effective therapies in the treatment of a wide range of anxiety and stress driven problems from performance improvement to phobias to addictions.
Through my personal experiences and my training, I have a sound understanding about how habitual, maladaptive thought processes that we can all develop from time to time can be challenged and changed. This will help you to implement more positive thoughts and feelings, enabling you to change the negative thinking patterns and behaviours and remove any restrictive blocks that are holding you back. From here you will be able to move onto a more positive and liberating path; free from worry and negative thoughts or unhelpful or destructive behaviours.
